NFL Preseason 8/16/26 Breakdown

Friday is here, and we are breaking down the three-game slate!

The games are as follows!

• Broncos at Falcons

• Buccaneers at Jets

• Dolphins at Commanders

We will go position by position, highlighting my favorite plays below

Quarter back

On the Broncos, Sam Ehlinger will see the most playing time. On the Falcons, Cooper Rush will see a little bit of time. I am liking Jack Strand to see the most playing time. D2 college watchers know him! On the Buccaneers, Connor Bazelak and Jalon Daniels could be fighting for playing time. Going to be an interesting one. On the Jets, this room is too busy for me with all the options. On the Dolphins, Cam Miller and Mark Gronowski are two rookies. I am not sure either way I will play them with a gross receiving room. On the Commanders, Athan Kaliakmanis and Sam Hartman are the two quarterbacks that will be seeing playing time.

Running back

On the Broncos, this will be the Jonah Coleman showcase game. Tyler Badie could see some run in the late half. On the Falcons, I like Nathan Carter. Trey Sermon is a veteran. Tyler Goodson is interesting. On the Buccaneers, Josh Williams is the main guy I expect to see the most carries. On the Jets, I do like Isaiah Davis and Kene Nwangwu to see the most playing time. On the Dolphins, Donovan Edwards could light up the backfield. Among the Commanders, Kaytron Allen should see the most playing time in a small room and has looked great in training camp. Jerome Ford sighting?

Wide Receiver

On the Broncos, Hakeem Butler from the USFL will be trying to show his worth. I don't mind the rookies in Dane Key and Joseph Manjack. On the Falcons, Dylan Drummond has been a preseason darling. Chris Blair is another preseason-type player. On the Buccaneers, I don't mind David Sills. Eric Rivers is an undrafted free agent who is quick. On the Jets, Caullin Lacy is an interesting option. Omar Cooper is another option to look at. On the Dolphins, someone will have to step up here badly. On the Commanders, Nick Nash took the college world by storm and is someone to keep an eye on. River Cracraft is quick and could be in play on the slate. Jaylin Lane could be interesting as well.

Tight End

For the Broncos, Justin Joly will be the main guy I focus on. The rest of the Broncos are veterans. On the Falcons, Joshua Simon could be the cleanup option. Again, the team is full of veterans at tight end. On the Buccaneers, Bauer Sharp is an okay option on the slate. Devin Culp is the big man option. For the Jets, Jelani Woods could be an end-zone threat. On the Dolphins, Seydou Traore is the main option for me. On the Commanders, Colson Yankoff and Ben Sinnott are two options.
