UFC 272 DFS Breakdown

Colby Covington VS Jorge Masvidal- The Main Event! Jorge and Colby are going to want to kill each other. Colby is going to be a force and he has focused on his chin defense. Colby will have good boxing and the volume will be there. Jorge has a different style of striking and can damage anyone. Both of these fighters know where the x factors are. Colby can land the takedowns, but Jorge can land the big shot. I like Colby here for sure.

Rafel Dos Janos vs Renato Moicano- Added fight to the card! This is going to be a banger overall but here we go. Moicano has improved wrestling, but this is for sure a short notice fight. I do like the dog here, but the odds are in Janos favor. The layoff does scare me for Janos by far.

Edson Barboza VS Bryce Mitchell- The CO- Main Event! Bryce is on a 14-0-win streak and has looked amazing with his strength. Barboza is a talented striker, and the knockout upside is by far there. Barboza does have decent takedown defense on his plate. Mitchell will want to close the distance in this fight and be aggressive in all formats. Edsen will have the better striking, but Mitchell can hit Edsen in different formats. I like Mitchell to take over this fight in the later rounds pushing the pace.

Kevin Holland VS Alex Oliveira- Great fight like wow. Holland just dropped down a weight class for this fight. Oliveira is coming off of three loses. Holland has not looked great, and this worries me for his sub defense. Oliveira should be able to hand this fight off the mat and I like that for him in this fight he needs to win as a dog but, he rarely goes for the takedown anymore. This will be a good fight, but I like cowboy. I have been back and forth on this fight; Holland can win this fight if the mentality is there.

Sergey Spivak VS Greg Hardy- Heavy weight time! Hardy is an athlete and a very physical fighter. Hardy can be explosive on the feet. I am worried about the defense of Hardy despite him being knocked out by a huge fighter in Taui. Hardy can pull off this fight, but I like Spivak here who is an amazing grappler. Spivak can win this on the ground game if he can defend the knockout. Spivak can handle this pace of fight.

Jalin Turner VS Jamie Mullarkey- Huge hands fight. Mullarkey is a guy who is an accurate striking and that his main game. Mullarkey has the boxing upside and love seeing it. Turner is on a three-fight win streak and has good submission skills. Turner has continued to get better day by day. I do like Turner here in this spot.

Marina Rodriguez VS Xiaonan Yan- Female fight! Yan has been a highly touted fighter but last fight she lost in a huge way. Yan got exploited on the mat, but on the feet, she has great power to win fights with her striking. Yan has huge wins on her resume for sure. Rodriguez is a huge name to be talked about. Rodirguez is a great boxer, and the striking is much better to me. Give me Rodriguez to handle this fight.

Nick Negumereanu VS Kennedy Nzechukwu- Huge fight! Kennedy has a great chin and can hang in a fight by far. Last fight, he lost a good one and not holding it against Kennedy at all. Nick though can knock out anyone and he has the volume to get to Kennedy. Nick is coming off two good wins and has looked good. Nick is a boxer and has good hands. I really like the upside from Nick who can use his style to win this fight.

Maryna Moroz VS Mariya Agapova- Female fight! Both fighters are coming off decent wins. Agapova has been all over the place in camps and a basket case. Moroz, she going to want to fight for her country and love that she will have a huge heart in this match. The fighters do not like each other though at all. I do not trust Agapova here and the cardio is not there because she goes wild, but she has good power on her punches. Moroz will go out looking for a sub and love that from her.

Umar Nurmagomedov VS Brian Kelleher- Interesting fight. This is the fight for Umar to win. Kelleher is in a heavy underdog spot and this spot just is not for him. Umar is a highly touted prospect, and his grappling is amazing especially being the cousin of Khabib.

Tim Elliott VS Tagir Ulanbekov- Good fight! The dirty bird verses the prospect. Tagir looked decent last fight and he will come in super confident still in this fight. Elliot is no pushover though and will fight for your money, he will want to push this fight and will stand with you in the ring. Elliot will want to go for the sub and what worries me is Tagir has holes in his defense while he forces maneuvers. Elliot is the underdog, and he has a chance, but I like the upside of Tagir here.

Dustin Jacoby vs Michal Oleksiejczuk- Added late fight to the card! Michel is mainly a boxer and does not use his kicking power at all. Michel does have a decent skillset though. Jacoby is an excellent striker and will use all his power in his style. His career is on the come up now and love his upside. Jacoby can go in the cage and switch his style on whenever he wants. He is super polished as a fighter.

Ľudovít Klein VS Devonte Smith- First fight of the night and here we go. Smith got knocked out multiple times, but he has high power in his hands. Smith does have decent wins though on his record. The chin is my only worry for Smith. Klein also have power and is coming off of two losses. Klein does not have good cardio, but he is physical for sure. I do like Smith to get a bounce back win and land volume shots in this fight.
