UFC 274 DFS Breakdown

Main Card!

Charles Oliveira vs Justin Gaethje- Main event! This an amazing main event and one of the best fights ever in the UFC. Charles on paper has the better reach by 4 inches. This is a close fight right off the bat. Charles is on a 10 fight win streak and continuing to improve every single fight he has won. Charles has amazing tools, but the only issue is he takes damage. Gaethje is going to push the pace and show volume by far with his striking. It is going to be who can finish who first on the feet. Give me Gaethje to start extremely fast and show a striking output.

Rose Namajunas vs Carla Esparza- CO-Main event! Esparza is the gatekeeper of the straw weight division in the UFC. Rose is the betting favorite and should be. The rematch from 2014 is interesting but times have changed now. Rose has stepped up and changed. Esparza is the better grappler, but the striking is heavily in Rose's favor. Rose has decent ground game compared to what it was, and I think Rose can pull out a win here. I believe Rose will be able to work around her way in this matchup.

Michael Chandler vs Tony Ferguson- What. A. Fight. Chandler is the massive favorite to win this fight based on betting odds. Ferguson is getting older and the damage he has gotten is scary. Ferguson based on the chin is not what it used to be and Chandler should be able to earn the takedowns. The takedowns will have to be there from Chandler in order to win this fight. The striking will be close, but it is all about takedowns here. Chandler has power, but he shouldn't knockout Ferguson based on the damage he has taken. I can see Chandler squeezing out a win.

Ovince St. Preux vs Mauricio Hua- Light heavyweight fight! Yep both fighters are still fighting and this is a older fighters fight also. OSP is the heavy favorite. OSP can get a win in the first round with his amazing submission game. I am taking the more better recent form fighter in OSP compared to Rua who that has looked awful in the cage. Give me OSP to win this fight fast.

Donald Cerrone vs Joe Lauzon- Older fighter fights! This is a great fight. Donald is 0-5 the last 5 fights while Joe is coming off a win. This is a closer fight than the betting odds appear. Donald really needs a win and is he wanting it badly after his last fight won was 2019. Joe has not fought in 2 years and 6 months which is super scary. Donald has looked bad, but he is the better fighter and the layoff of Joe is not great despite him getting a win. This fight is good in a bad way haha. Give me Donald here to squeeze out a win.

Preliminary Card!

Khaos Williams vs Randy Brown- Good fight by far. This is going to be a banger on the feet and striking will be massive here. Brown has all the tools to win this fight. The better striker is Brown and grappling in his favor. Khaos has the power advantage here and can get a knockout if he clips him. This is a close fight by far. Brown can win this, but Khaos can get a knockout here and expose the bad chin of Brown.

Norma Dumont vs Macy Chiasson- Female fight in the featherweight division! Dumont is the heavy favorite and coming off a win while Chiasson is coming off a loss. Dumont has good striking and not bad grappling overall. Chiasson will have the length and height advantage. This is a closer fight than it appears on the betting odds. This is going to be a grappling matchup and Chiasson does not have great takedown defense. Dumont should pressure her and throw her to the mat to sneak out a submission win.

Brandon Royval vs Matt Schnell- Good fight here on the prelims. Royval is the heavy favorite based on betting odds. Schnell is in a horrible matchup and he is not the same fighter he used to be. Royval is going to have heavy volume and the durable chin of him is great. Schnell can not hangout in the cage throwing low volume taking punches because Royval will pressure him. Royval is going to win this with ease.

Blagoy Ivanov vs Marcos Rogerio de Lima- Heavyweight fight. I do like this fight in this division. It has been a year layoff from Ivanov while it has been five months since fought. The striking and leg kicks are great from Lima with his tools. Ivanov is very durable and has a good chin which worries me for Lima because Lima is use to first round fights. Ivanov despite the layoff, has fought way better fighters and taken shots from amazing fights. Ivanov has even been stabbed and still fighting in the cage. You have to love Ivanov here.

Francisco Trinaldo vs Danny Roberts- Trinaldo is 43 years old and it is a close fight overall. This is welterweight fight and Trinaldo is still here. Roberts is the younger fighter and he is by far the taller fighter in the cage. I like the pressure Roberts is going to push in the cage. Overall, the physical game of Roberts is why I am liking him despite the fighter IQ. I think Roberts proved last fight he won that he can pull off another win.

Tracy Cortez vs Melissa Gatto- Female fight in the flyweight division. Good fight by far. Both fighters are coming off a win. Gatto has been in and out of the cage in the UFC. Gatto is not great with her takedown defense, but has decent striking out put. The grappling is good out of Gatto also and has upside. This is not a good matchup though for her. Cortez is going straight to the mat and taking down Gatto with ease. That is Cortez's path of victory and should have control time in her favor.

Kleydson Rodrigues vs C.J Vergara- Flyeight fight! Rodirgues is the massive favorite for betting odds and making his debut in the cage for UFC from DWCS. Rodrigues has all sorts of tools involving kicks for his striking. The only downfall is takedown defense but I am not worried about that in this fight. Rodrigues overall is the better fighter here. Vergara is not a bad fight but this fight isn't for him.

Lupita Godinez vs Ariane Carnelossi- Female fight! Lupita is the favorite in this fight as betting odds say. Carnelossi is physically the better fighter in the cage. Carnelossi has massive power and the grappling is not bad at all, well rounded fighter. Lupita has the better grappling though to be honest. Lupita has good wrestling and the better striker based on accuracy. It is going to be a close fight overall. Lupita should be able to use the takedowns for a path to victory with Carnelossi lack of takedown defense.

Fernie Garcia vs Journey Newson- Bantam weight! Newson is coming off a loss against Randy Costa. Garcia is coming off a DWCS win and has massive power. Garcia can knockout Newson with his quick hands. Newson does have a good chin but it still worries me with his chin. Garcia is a good wrestler on the ground and has the tools to win.

Andre Fialho vs Cameron VanCamp- First fight of the night! Welterweight time! Fialho is t he heavy favorite and it is well worth it. This is a big step up in the rankings for VanCamp which scares me for him. VanCamp is a grappler compared to Fialho is a striker with massive power and excellent takedown defense. Fialho should knock out VanCamp with ease.
