UFC Vegas 53 Breakdown

Main Card

Rob Font VS Marlon Vera- The Main! Great fight! This fight will change the rankings. Font is coming off a good loss. Vera is coming off two wins. I love the boxing from Font while the kicks are lethal from Vera. I can see Font trying to carve up Vera. Font has good volume and love the striking upside he brings. This is a good close five round fight.

Jake Collier VS Andrei Arlovski- The CO- Main! Heavy weight time! Arlovski is coming into his 54th UFC fight. Collier looked good against Sherman…look at the name though. Collier has good hands and this is a huge step up in competition. He can use his boxing to crack Arlovski. The chin worries me for Arlovski little bit. Arlovski is the better fighter though here. Give me Arlovski to get this win.

Andre Fili VS Joanderson Brito- Interesting fight! Brito is coming off a loss and looked decent in his last fight. Filli looked good last fight despite the eye poke. Filli is going to be interesting in this fight and has good footwork with his striking. Brito is going to throw bombs at Filli. I like Filli here to be honest who can implement takedowns also.

Jared Gordon VS Grant Dawson- Good fight. Gordon is coming off of three wins. Dawson is a wrestler and his striking has been on the come up also. I love the wrestling from Dawson despite Gordon being decent there. This is a close fight by far. Give me Dawson with his striking to pull out this win!

Darren Elkins VS Tristan Connelly- Hands fight! Elkins has powerfully hands that can crack anyone and can get bloody while still fighting. Elkins has horrible defense and will take damage. Elkins has cardio, but again the damage he can take is not the greatest. Connelly will have to damage him in order to win this fight. Connelly is not a bad fighter at all and well rounded along with having good cardio. I like Connelly to take this fight.

Gerald Meerschaert VS Krzysztof Jotko- Grappling fight! Jotko is a lengthy fighter with his style of fighting. Meershcaert is a submission guy who can sub any fighter in the cage and coming off of three wins. The chin is there for Gerald also here and there. Jotko will have to keep this on the feet and not let hit the mat. I like the striking better so from Jotko. I do think Jotko can sneak a win out.

Daniel da Silva VS Francisco Figueiredo- Fire fight. The older Figueiredo! Francisco has good hands and explosion with his kicks, mental errors worthy me though from him. Silva was finished last fight, which I can see Francisco doing so to Silva. Francisco needs a win.

Alexandr Romanov VS Chase Sherman- This fight is pretty straight forward. Romanov should easily win this. Dominate win.

Yohan Lainesse VS Gabe Green- Good fight. Green is fast on the feet and has power hands. Yohan Is making his debut and looked good in DWCS. Yohan has powerful strikes and this will be a battle on the feet. I can’t wait for this striking fight and It could be bloody! This is a close fight, but give me the newcomer in Yohan.

Mike Breeden VS Natan Levy- Not a bad fight. Levy is coming off his debut loss, despite looking good in the cage against Garcia doing well in the UFC. Breeden is okay, but Levy should easily win this fight and handle this with class. Levy all the way.

Gina Mazany VS Shanna Young- Female fight! Low level fight overall. Mazany should win this on the mat despite Young having power. Young is coming off of 1 out of 4 losses. I like Mazany to win this despite it being a low level fight. Pick- Mazany

Tatsuro Taira VS Carlos Candelario- First fight! Taira is making his debut and has looked great coming into the UFC. The style of fighting is fast and precision worthy. The grappling is there for him. Carlos is a step up in competition for him. Carlos is good in the grappling game. Taira should beat him in the grappling overall from Carlos plus Taira has the better striking.
