UFC Vegas 73 Dern vs Hill Breakdown

Mackenzie Dern vs. Angela Hill

The rescheduled main event is here! This fight was moved from last week to the main event here. Dern is the slight favorite. Hill can win this fight in a decision fashion if she can stuff the takedowns. Dern though has improved her game with the power behind her striking. I am liking Dern in this fight shooting for takedowns and subbing for Hill.

Edmen Shahbazyan vs. Anthony Hernandez

The co-main event! The golden boy is here! Hernandez is a massive favorite in this fight. The matchup is not in Edmen's favor. Hernandez will push this fight to the ground and not stop until he gets the win. I don't see a path of victory for Edmen going past the first round. Hernandez is the way better fighter here on paper.

Emily Ducote vs. Loopy Godinez

This is a gross fight. Loopy we know is the wrestling in this fight with the power she brings to the table throwing fighters around. The past fights though Loopy will not wrestle anymore which is scary to see. Loopy needs to wrestle based on how bad Ducote is with the takedown defense. I just don't know the game plan of Loopy.

Andre Fialho vs. Joaquin Buckley

This is not a bad fight at all on paper. Both of these fighters though are coming off two losses. Buckley can push the pace and has knockout power. Fialho though has power behind his hands too. This will be a striking battle all the way around. It is a toss-up between who can land the knockout punch. I am liking Fialho.

Diego Ferreira vs. Michael Johnson

A lightweight fight! Ferreira is getting up in age and hasn't won a fight in 3 years. Ferreira hasn't fought in a year. The time is telling right now. Johnson is coming off a win 5 months ago. Johnson is super up and down though making him also hard to trust. This comes down to which fighter you trust more. I am liking Johnson slightly more.

Maheshate vs. Viacheslav Borshchev

This could be a fun fight! Maheshate is mainly a striker and Borshchev is also a striker. I am loving this fight showing violence. This fight is all on the feet, to be honest. Borshchev should be the better fighter in this fight with his striking output.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Vanessa Demopoulos

Karolina is on a two-fight winning streak while Demopoulos is on a three-fight winning streak. Karolina is the better striker on the feet but Vanessa has improved her game slowly. Demopoulos has power behind her striking despite taking a lot of shots. The pushing of the pace is in Demopoulos's favor along with her grappling is fantastic. I like Demopoulos in this fight.

Orion Cosce vs. Gilbert Urbina

Orion is coming off a decision win while Urbina is coming off his UFC debut loss. Urbina was all over the place last fight mentally giving up takedowns. Urbina's cardio worries me a ton also going into round two. Orion can dig deep into multiple rounds and I like his upside compared to Urbina.

Ilir Latifi vs. Rodrigo Nascimento

Big boy fight! Both fighters are coming off a win. Another fight I am not interested in at all. The cardio is awful for both of these fighters. Latifi is more of a takedown sort of fighter and I don't think Nascimento will want to be taken down. Nascimento wants this fight on the feet and the takedown defense is amazing for Latifi. I am again not liking this fight though and fading in all formats.

Chase Hooper vs. Nick Fiore

Hooper has had an interesting UFC run so far being only 23 years old. Hooper is coming off a knockout loss 6 months ago. Fiorie is coming off a decision loss in his UFC debut. This fight isn't intriguing to me at all. Hooper is mainly a grappler and Fiore will try to out-grapple him. I am liking Hooper by a hair but it isn't pretty at all to me.

Natalia Silva vs. Victoria Leonardo

Silva has been on fire winning five fights in a row and is a massive favorite in this fight. Leonardo is coming off a decision win from Mandy Bohm who we saw last week wasn't the greatest fighter at all. I don't see how Silva losses this fight at all. Silva will be able to pop Leonardo in all formats.

Takashi Sato vs. Themba Gorimbo

The first fight of the night! This is going to be a battle between styles. Sato is coming off three losses in a row while Gorimbo lost in his UFC debut. Gorimbo is mainly a grappler while Sato likes staying on the feet striking. Gorimbo should be able to take down Sato where Sato is awful on the ground. Sato will try to hit where Gorimbo is before Gorimbo shoots for the takedown. I like Gorimbo overall in this fight.
